Sun 25 July: Port Colborne ON to Ashtabula OH

We said our farewells to Canada today as we rode first eastwards to cross the bridge into Buffalo, then westwards along the southern shore of Lake Erie. After clearing the industrial fringe of Buffalo as quickly as possible on the interstate, an experience made even more depressing by steady rain, we joined New York State 5, which is the Seaway Trail, and a “scenic byway”. And the sun came out. Here’s a view from Erie State Park:

Sat 24 July: Local to Niagara Falls

Today was our scheduled sightseeing day at Niagara Falls. Well, it just had to be done. We started with a visit to Port Power Sports, who, in spite of a busy Saturday schedule, fixed Jean’s mirror at no charge. They’re lovely people, and have a great range of Yamaha and Victory bikes as well as ATVs etc.

I suppose that I’d better start with an admission. We had a little bit of an off today. First time in three years. We set off in steady rain this morning, intending to stop at the first fuel station, since we’d already used half a tankful on our final leg the previous day.

Thu 22 July: Blind River ON to Parry Sound ON

We rode around a big piece of Lake Huron today, including Georgian Bay. We haven’t seen much of the Great Lake itself, though. The road has been in the main inland, through rocky lakes and forests, interspersed with farmland. This picture of Ink Lake gives an idea:
